Your 12-Month Learning Journey

9 Months Training + 3 Months EPA

Months 1–2

Foundations of L&D Practice

Induction, safeguarding, and L&D landscape orientation. Understand learning theory, professional standards, and CIPD foundations. Build your baseline skills and knowledge.

Months 3–4

Learning Needs Analysis & Design

Master TNA (Training Needs Analysis) and ADDIE model. Study instructional design principles. Begin designing your first training intervention with digital learning tools.

Months 5–6

Facilitation, Delivery & Coaching

Deliver training sessions with impact. Master facilitation skills. Learn the GROW coaching model and earn your CMI Level 3 Coaching Award through practical application.

Months 7–8

Evaluation, Impact & Professional Practice

Study Kirkpatrick evaluation levels and ROI measurement. Master EDI (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion) and earn your NCFE Mental Health First Aid certificate.

Month 9

Consolidation & EPA Preparation

Consolidate learning across all modules. Build your evidence portfolio, complete mock assessment, and pass the Gateway interview demonstrating readiness for EPA.

Months 10–12 — EPA

End Point Assessment

Independent EPAO conducts practical observation of your delivery (with Q&A) plus professional discussion using your evidence portfolio. Graded Pass, Merit, or Distinction.

Independent assessment conducted in months 10–12. Graded: Pass, Merit, or Distinction.

1. Practical Observation (MANDATORY)

EPAO observes you delivering training in your workplace. Assesses facilitation, learner engagement, and professional practice in real conditions.

2. Q&A (MANDATORY)

Follow-up questioning on your observed practice, learning design decisions, and professional knowledge of L&D principles.

3. Professional Discussion with Portfolio

Structured discussion of your evidence portfolio. Demonstrates competence across learning needs analysis, design, delivery, evaluation, coaching, and wellbeing.

Grading Scale

Pass: Meets all apprenticeship standards. Merit: Exceeds expectations in most areas. Distinction: Exceptional achievement across all criteria.
