Every provider's published achievement rate, in one place

Gov.uk publishes a 2024/25 achievement rate for each provider on each standard once it has enough completions. We have compiled every published rate for the two data standards, with cohort size and the 2025/26 employer and apprentice review bands, so you can compare providers on evidence rather than adjectives. TESS is shown where it sits today: too new on these standards for a published rate, with Good review bands from employers and apprentices.

Data read from Find Apprenticeship Training on 15 October 2026. Providers with no published rate are not listed. Achievement rate is the share of apprentices who completed and passed; "out of" is the cohort the rate is calculated on.

21 of 113 providers listed for this standard have a published 2024/25 achievement rate. Median across those providers: 66.7%. Learner-weighted average: 62.3% across 4,630 apprentices. Source: Find Apprenticeship Training, course 576, read 15 October 2026.

Level 5 Data Engineer (ST1386): 18 providers are listed and none has a published achievement rate yet. The standard was approved in December 2023 and the first cohorts have not completed in volume.

What the numbers say: at Level 4 the largest provider by far, Multiverse, achieves 50.1% across 2,770 apprentices, which drags the learner-weighted average to 58.9% against a provider median of 69.1%. Baltic, Corndel and Cambridge Spark are the only large providers above or near the median with Excellent or Good reviews. At Level 3 the pattern repeats: Multiverse 55.9% on 2,600 apprentices; Corndel 79.8% on 640; Baltic 80.6% on 130. Cohort size matters: a 100% on 10 apprentices is a different claim from 79.8% on 640.

What a data apprenticeship costs the employer

Each standard has a maximum funding band. Levy payers with funds in their account pay nothing extra; the figures below are the co-investment where it applies. We confirm your exact position on the call and never quote a levy balance we cannot see.

£0
Levy-paying employers with funds: the full band is drawn from the Growth and Skills Levy. Unused levy expires after 12 months.
£650 / £750 / £950
Non-levy employers' 5% co-investment at Level 3, 4 and 5 for apprentices aged 25 and over; the government funds the remaining 95%.
£0
Non-levy employers with an apprentice aged 16 to 24 at the start: fully government funded, up to the band.
£3,250 / £3,750 / £4,750
Levy payers whose account has run out: 25% co-investment on new starts aged 25 and over at Level 3, 4 and 5. Apprentices aged 16 to 24 stay fully funded.

Use the levy calculator for your own numbers, or the Levy Clock to see when funds you have already paid will expire.

Who data apprenticeships are for

Existing staff first. Every TESS data apprentice needs a role with real data work to practise on; that is where the portfolio and the end-point assessment project come from.

Data apprenticeships: questions employers ask

Straight answers from the standards and our own delivery.

What data apprenticeships does TESS Group offer?
Two today and one in development. The Level 3 Data Technician (ST0795, £13,000 funding band) for staff new to data; the Level 4 Data Analyst (ST0118, £15,000 band) with the Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst PL-300 certification included as standard; and the Level 5 Data Engineer (ST1386, £19,000 band), which we are building to the revised assessment plan for first closed employer cohorts in 2027.
How much does a data apprenticeship cost an employer?
Nothing extra for levy-paying employers with funds in their Growth and Skills Levy account: the £13,000, £15,000 or £19,000 band is drawn from the levy. Non-levy employers pay 5% (£650 at Level 3, £750 at Level 4, £950 at Level 5) for apprentices aged 25 and over, and nothing for apprentices aged 16 to 24. Levy payers whose account has run out co-invest 25% on new starts aged 25 and over, and nothing for apprentices aged 16 to 24.
Which level should we choose?
Level 3 Data Technician suits administrators, coordinators and operations staff who handle data in Excel and need to clean, combine and report it properly. Level 4 Data Analyst suits people already working with data every day who need SQL, Power BI, Python and statistics to answer business questions. Level 5 Data Engineer is for people who will build and maintain the pipelines and platforms the analysts depend on; first cohorts start in 2027.
Do data apprentices need a degree or coding experience?
No. Neither standard has entry qualifications beyond the English and maths rules that apply to every apprenticeship. The Level 3 starts from complete beginner; the Level 4 assumes the apprentice already uses spreadsheets or reports at work. Python and SQL are taught from first principles.
How are data apprenticeships assessed?
By an independent, Ofqual-regulated end-point assessment organisation after a gateway. The Level 4 Data Analyst uses a project with presentation and questioning plus a professional discussion, graded Fail, Pass, Merit or Distinction overall. The Level 3 Data Technician assessment plan is being revised under the 2025/26 assessment reforms; the current plan remains live until the revised one takes effect.
Why does TESS not show an achievement rate on Find Apprenticeship Training for the data standards?
Gov.uk publishes a course-level achievement rate only once a provider has enough completions on that standard in the year; below that threshold it shows "no achievement rate". TESS began delivering the data standards recently, so the first published rate will follow the first full cohorts. Apprentices achieve a 72% distinction rate across TESS, and our employer and apprentice review bands on both data standards are Good.
Can existing staff do a data apprenticeship, or only new hires?
Both. Most TESS apprentices are existing employees. An analyst, finance assistant, operations coordinator or marketer who already works with data can be enrolled, provided their role gives them real data work to practise on and the employer protects the off-the-job training time.
How is the programme delivered?
Live online across England: one live workshop a month with a TESS trainer, monthly one-to-one coaching with a named skills coach, Coachy (our AI tutor) between sessions, and the apprentice's own work as the portfolio. Closed cohorts of eight or more can run on an accelerated timetable; the Level 4 has a 12-month option for private employer cohorts.
