Why TESS Group

Three reasons UK leaders choose TESS for AI Apprenticeship Units.

Every provider in the UK delivering these new units charges the same £750 per unit. You're choosing on depth, format and proof. Not price.

Coachy AI Tutor

Three vendor variants: Microsoft, Google, or Claude

Frequently asked

AI Apprenticeship Units: straight answers.

What's the difference between the three AI Apprenticeship Units?

Unit 1 (AU0009) is for setting direction, opportunity mapping, business case, strategy synthesis. Unit 2 (AU0010) is for the responsible-AI build-out, procurement, governance, risk, compliance. Unit 3 (AU0011) is for actually delivering transformation, pilot design, workforce impact, change communication. They stack, but each stands alone.

Can I take just one?

Yes. Each unit is independent at £750 funded. Most clients take all three in sequence for the full leadership pathway, but a CFO might only need Unit 1, a Head of Risk might only need Unit 2, etc.

Who's actually eligible?

Anyone employed, 19+, in a leadership role with autonomy to inform technology decisions. That's much broader than 'C-suite', heads of function, senior managers, programme leads, AI champions, directors below board level. See the audience section on this page.

How does the £750 funding work?

Two paths, both £0 to your bottom line. Levy payers (annual paybill > £3m) draw the £750 from their Apprenticeship Levy digital account. SMEs and non-levy payers get AI Apprenticeship Units 100% government-funded — no co-investment, no 5%, nothing to find from your budget. We talk you through both routes on a discovery call.

What's the difference between an open and a closed cohort?

Open cohorts mix learners from multiple organisations: great for cross-sector exposure, set dates, runs as 4 weeks (1 day/week) or 4-day intensive sprint. There's no upper cap on cohort size. We run as many seats as the demand calls for. Closed cohorts are 8+ learners from one organisation, where we customise format (half-days, evenings, two-day blocks, split delivery), examples and exercises around your context. Again, no upper limit. The bigger the cohort, the deeper the org-wide capability change.

How is the unit assessed?

Mandatory: a skills test delivered by us, validated by your employer, demonstrating you've acquired the knowledge and skills set out in the Skills England standard. The named deliverable from each unit (Strategy, Framework, 90-Day Plan) doubles as the practical evidence.

What's Coachy?

Coachy is the AI tutor, built on Claude, included with every TESS apprenticeship unit. 24/7 between sessions, on-demand support for assessment prep, prompt practice, framework recall. UK exclusive at the £750 tier.

How quickly can we start?

Open cohorts are running monthly from May 2026. Closed cohorts (8+) typically launch within 4-6 weeks of agreement. The customisation work takes the time, not the funding paperwork.
